Lejla Pula can be regarded as a pioneering figure in Kosovo’s music scene, being among the earliest pianists and piano professors from the country. Apart from her performance career as a concert pianist, she has been teaching piano for over 40 years at university level. She completed her piano studies at the Academy of Arts at the University of Prishtina. Under the guidance of Evgenij Koroljov and Ivetta Dimchevska, she honed her skills and earned her master’s degree with distinction in 1986 from the Faculty of Music at the University of Belgrade.
Her exceptional talent has taken her across various countries, including Austria (Vienna, Graz), Croatia (Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Rovinj, Opatia), Germany (Bonn, Bingen, Bernheim), Albania (Tirana), Russia (Moscow), Ukraine (Sevastopol), Serbia (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis), Macedonia (Skopje, Ohrid, Tetovo), Slovenia (Lubjana) etc. She has performed as a soloist, with orchestras, and as a member of chamber ensembles. She was a member of “Trio Kosova” from 1981-1991 and is currently a member of “Balkan Sextet” and “Trio Vivo.” She has regularly performed with domestic and international musicians at Kosovo’s Chamber Music Festivals such as “Kammerfest,” “Chopin PianoFest,” and “ReMusica.” Lejla Pula has played with the Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra on several occasions, including a memorable performance of the Triple Concerto by L. Van Beethoven in 2003 and the 4th piano Concerto of L. Van Beethoven in 2007 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the European Union’s establishment.
Initially an assistant professor to internationally renowned piano professors such as I. Lasko, A. Waldma, I. Dimchevska, L. Shuica, and N. Kecman, Lejla Pula has been teaching piano at the University of Prishtina’s Academy of Arts since 1981.Throughout her academic career, she has graduated an entire generation of successful Kosovar pianists from her piano class, and her artistic dedication and continuous commitment to discovering and developing piano talents have made a distinctive contribution to the Kosovo pianistic milieu.
