Aurélien Azan Zielinski

Aurélien Azan Zielinski is a French conductor recognized for his versatility across symphonic repertoire, opera, and contemporary music. He made his operatic debut as assistant to Emmanuel Krivine at the Opéra de Lyon, and has since conducted productions in Lyon, Metz, and Lausanne, developing a strong sensitivity to the relationship between orchestral texture and vocal expression.

He maintains a close artistic affinity with dance, regularly collaborating with the Ballet national de Lorraine. His work in this field reflects a particular attention to movement and musical gesture, conducting productions that explore the dialogue between choreography and sound.

Deeply committed to contemporary music, Aurélien Azan Zielinski actively supports today’s composers and has premiered new works, including Baptiste Trotignon’s piano concerto Different Spaces, performed alongside Nicholas Angelich. His artistic approach is marked by precision, flexibility, and a strong sense of narrative, qualities that also define his work in film-concerts and interdisciplinary projects.

In the symphonic field, he has collaborated with internationally acclaimed soloists such as Michaël Barenboim and Philippe Jaroussky, performing in a wide range of repertoire.

Alongside his conducting career, he is strongly engaged in pedagogy and the transmission of musical knowledge. He is Professor of Conducting at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne and has worked extensively with youth orchestras, contributing to the development of the next generation of musicians.
