Ingmar Lazar

A former student of V. Sigalevitch and A. Golovin, he continued his studies with V. Krainev and B. Goetzke at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. He later attended the International Piano Academy Lake Como and the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland (Lugano) as a Theo Lieven scholar, studying with D. Bashkirov, M. Bilson, F. Ts’ong, and S. Ioudenitch. He received his Master’s and Postgraduate degrees from the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with P. Gililov and completed further postgraduate studies with E. Virsaladze at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.

Since 2016, Ingmar Lazar has been the founder and artistic director of the Festival du Bruit qui Pense, located in Louveciennes, Yvelines, in north-central France.Ingmar Lazar

Hailed by Classica Magazine as a “pianist of magnetic presence,” Ingmar Lazar is internationally praised for his deep and moving performances, as well as for his brilliant control and stupendous technique. He has firmly established himself as one of the leading French musicians of his generation.

Highlights of the 2024/25 season included debuts with the Pasdeloup Orchestra and Mykola Diadiura (Chopin Concerto No. 1), the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and Marko Hribernik (Beethoven Concerto No. 5), and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and Charles Olivieri-Munroe (Chopin Concerto No. 1). Solo recitals took him to Vienna (Ehrbar Saal), London (St George’s – Hanover Square), and Paris (Théâtre Le Ranelagh). Future engagements through the 2025/26 season will bring him to the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie in Brussels, the Reims Opera House, the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris, and the Collins Alumni Auditorium in Nashville, alongside other concerts scheduled in France, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Ingmar Lazar performs in prestigious halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Herkulessaal in Munich, theInternational Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, La Seine Musicale in Paris, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, etc. He regularly performs at renowned festivals including La Roque d’Anthéron, Festival Chopin in Paris, Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier, the Póvoa de Varzim International Music Festival, Sant Pere de Rodes, and the Gotthard Klassik-Festival.

He collaborates with conductors such as V. Spivakov, J.J. Kantorow, M. Herzog, J. Chauvin, A. Duczmal-Mróz, and P. Vizard, and performs with orchestras including the National Philharmonic of Russia, Moscow Virtuosi, Orchestre Lamoureux, the Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra, L’Ensemble Appassionato, Le Concert de la Loge, and the Lviv Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra. Ingmar Lazar is also a dedicated chamber musician.

His discography includes a Schubert recital (Wanderer Fantasie and Sonata D.959), awarded five stars by Classica Magazine and named “France Musique’s Choice.” A Beethoven recital (Bagatelles op. 33, Sonatas op. 81a “Les Adieux” and op. 111), recorded live at the National Theatre in Marseille, “La Criée,” was released and received five stars. His latest recording, devoted to works of César Franck, has received outstanding press and five-star ratings from Classica Magazine and Diapason.

Ingmar Lazar made his debut at the age of six in 1999 at Salle Gaveau in Paris. A prizewinner of several international competitions, he received the Tabor Foundation Piano Award at the Verbier Festival in 2013 and was named a laureate of the Safran Foundation for Music in 2016. In 2020, he became a prizewinner of the Ateliers Médicis, with support from the French Ministry of Culture. He is a Steinway Artist.
