Natalia Rehling, a distinguished Polish-Austrian pianist and Yamaha artist, is renowned for her profound connection to the music of Frédéric Chopin. Praised by Online Merker as “the leading Chopin interpreter in Austria,” she captivates audiences with her virtuosity, brilliant runs, and interpretative depth. Her recent debut with members of the Vienna Philharmonic, performing Chopin’s Piano Concerto in E Minor, Op. 11, marked a highlight of her career.
Natalia Rehling graduated with distinctions from Music Universities in Poland and Austria. Her music masters were E. Poblocka, N. Flores, and J. Kropfisch. She excelled in her piano skills under the guidance of outstanding artists: V. Ashkenazy, R. Levin, A. Jasinski, M. Raekallio, V. Merzhanov, M. Perahia, H. Czerny-Stefanska, D. Merlet, and S. Lipkin.
She is a prize winner of major international competitions, including first prize at the 4th International Chopin Competition in Marianske Lazne (2001) and special awards at the 14th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2000), launching her international career.
She has performed worldwide in solo recitals, with orchestras, and in chamber music, collaborating with conductors such as A. Boreyko, J. Krenz, L. Borowicz, M. Rohac, R. Valek, L. Svarovsky, M. Kudlicki, and D. Auner. In Austria, her performances include Musikverein Vienna, Wiener Konzerthaus, Mozarthaus Vienna, Bösendorfer Saal, Yamaha Concert Hall, and the Imperial Palace’s historic instrument collection. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary music, including premieres of works dedicated to her at the Vienna Modern Festival and the Chopin Festival in Gaming. She also performs on historical instruments, such as Beethoven’s 2020 concert cycle on fortepiano, reflecting her commitment to historically informed performance.
Rehling is the first pianist to record Chopin’s works on a Conrad Graf fortepiano for the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien. Critics praise her sparkling arpeggios, transparent scales, virtuosic Mazurka rhythms, and seamless legato. Her contributions to Austria’s cultural life earned her the Golden Owl award.
She teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and serves as Vice President of the International Chopin Society in Vienna.
