Artem Yasynskyy

Artem Yasynskyy was born in 1988 in Donetsk, Ukraine, into a family of classical musicians. At the age of seven, he became a pupil of Albina Oryshchuk at the Special School for Gifted Children run by the Prokofiev Academy in Donetsk and gave his first concert at the age of eight.

From 2006 to 2010, a scholarship granted by the Ukrainian Government enabled him to study at the Prokofiev State Academy of Music with Albina Oryshchuk. He graduated in 2010 with Honours.

In the same year, Yasynskyy moved to Germany to pursue postgraduate piano studies at the University of the Arts in Bremen with Professor Patrick O’Byrne. In 2018, he completed the Konzertexamen degree (the highest academic qualification in music) with Honours and joined the piano faculty, where he is currently a principal piano teacher. In 2021, he was appointed as a substitute professor of piano at the University of the Arts in Bremen. Since November 2022, he has been a professor in the piano department at the Conservatorio Tartini in Trieste.

During his studies in Bremen, Yasynskyy received numerous scholarships from prestigious foundations, including the London Keyboard Charitable Trust (England), the Clavarte Foundation (Switzerland), the Steinway Award in Hamburg, the Hans and Stefan Bernbeck Foundation, the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben (Germany), and the Vere Music Fund (Ukraine).

Artem Yasynskyy has achieved great success in numerous international competitions and music festivals. In 2015, he was awarded the gold medal at the Cincinnati Piano Competition and was a prizewinner at the Honens Piano Competition in Calgary, Canada. He also won prizes at the Gian Battista Viotti Competition in Vercelli, the Sendai International Music Competition, the Gina Bachauer Competition in Salt Lake City, the Top of the World Competition in Tromsø, Norway, the Horowitz International Piano Competition in Kyiv, the Manhattan Music Competition, and the First German Competition of Polish Music (Leschetizky Competition).

In 2021, he won second prize and five additional awards at the Sydney International Piano Competition. He has performed at numerous festivals, including the Gina Bachauer Piano Artist Concert Series, the Honens Festival in Calgary, the Paderewski Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina (USA), the Bremer Musikfest, Raritäten der Klaviermusik in Husum (Germany), and the Kyiv Musical Summer Evenings Festival, among others.

Yasynskyy has given concerts across Canada, the USA, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Italy, Spain, Greece, Norway, Russia, and throughout Germany. He has performed in prestigious venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Jack Singer Hall in Calgary, Kyiv Philharmonie, Sendesaal Bremen, and the Bremer Glocke.

His debut CD, featuring works by Józef Hofmann, was released in 2015 by the Naxos Grand Piano label. His second CD, featuring sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, was released by Naxos in January 2018.
