
Epifanio Comis is an Italian concert pianist and conductor and the winner of more than 30 international and national music competitions. He studied at the “Vincenzo Bellini” music institute in Catania and took the High specialization course diploma at the Euterpe Academy. His teachers were Agatella Catania, Boris Petrushansky and Piero Rattalino.
Comis toured as a soloist throughout Europe, Asia, Russia, and the United States. He has performed with numerous world-class orchestras including the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra of Bucharest, the Radio Orchestra of Bucharest, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Kyiv, the Karlovy Vary Symphonic Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Szeged, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Cluj, the Tulare County Symphony Orchestra of California, the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfónica UANL of Mexico, the Orchestra Sinfonica del Teatro Bellini di Catania, the Orchestra SinfonicaSiciliana, The Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro Bellini, the Osaka Symphoniker and the Kyoto Symphony. He is the 2013 winner of the First International Sergei Rachmaninov Award.
Midway through his pianistic career, Comis branched into conducting, which enabled him to also conduct the Filharmony Symphony Orchestra in Donetsk at Rachmaninoff Festival all Piano concertos and Symphonies.
In 2011, Maestro Comis created Accademia Pianistica Siciliana in Catania which has a collaboration with the prestigious University of Catania. He is also the artistic director of ConcertFest Accademia Pianistica Siciliana in Moscow and on the teaching staff for the main piano course at Vincenzo Bellini’s conservatory in Catania and at Accademia Pianistica Siciliana.
During his professional career, he also served as a jury member for several international piano competitions, including the International Piano Rachmaninov Competition in Moscow, and held masterclasses at Hunter College in New York, the North Carolina University, the Duke University of Durham, the Ecole Normale de Musique of Paris, the Thessaloniki State Conservatory, the Monterrey University in Mexico, at the Manhattan School of Music NY, at the West Chester University Philadelphia, Cienna Music Academy “Orpheus”, the State Moscow Conservatoire by Tchaikovsky and at the Chopin Academy in Warsaw. He also works at the Chopin college in Moscow where he gives a Superior Music Course on Concert for piano and orchestra.
